Finding Relevant Media: Part Two

By Ricky DiMartinoIn our last issue, the IMN discussed ways to develop relevant media for your audience. In particular, the Communication Assessment Tool (CAT) and Eyes 4 Impact tools were highlighted. Picking up where we left off, here are three more things you can add to your toolkit when preparing media for your audience.Image generated by AI1) Digital Strategy Guides — These eight guides are intended for anyone who is contemplating digital Scripture content. You don't need to use all eight, either. Simply go straight to the guide most pertinent to your issue or question and work from there; for instance, one guide is entitled, "Audience Questions," which will help you discern the very things discussed in last month's article, namely, "What kinds of media do my audience want?" The guides are in PDF format, very easy to read, contain simple diagrams, and they come in English and in French. You can locate them on the IMS website Resources page.

2) SIL Resources QR Code Sheet — This new document was a sought-after item at the recent EMDC Conference in Thailand. It contains QR codes for just about any SIL resource you can think of, such as Keyman, HearThis, AlphaTiles, etc. In addition, you will find QR codes for not just resources but also departments and programs, such as the AI & NLP program, Global Diaspora Services, the Faith and Farming program, etc. This is a very good document to print out and share with others in your context. You can locate the PDF on the IMS website Resources page.

3) IMS Forum — Need expert advice? Here is a safe place where you can ask your questions, make suggestions, propose new ideas—whatever it is you're curious about. And dozens of experts in the field of media will be able to offer insight and feedback.

Don't have any questions? That's fine too. You should still join the forum, because media specialists elsewhere in the world will occasionally share new discoveries or things they've learned. The best part: you don't have to routinely check the forum for new posts; whenever a new comment or question is posted, you automatically receive an email in your inbox.

To join the forum, you must first be approved. To apply, simply complete the form on the IMS Forum page. Ricky DiMartino is the IMS Communications Coordinator. He is based in the IMS offices in Dallas, Texas. You can contact him at ricky_dimartino@sil.org.

Email Margaret Doll to attend.
