March 2025 Offerings from SIL Global AI

SIL Global AI offers a suite of innovative tools designed to support Bible translation and multilingual community engagement.

M2 massively multilingual chatbot platform can help you deliver important content to the local language communities you serve, for example, via FAQ or Survey/Quiz chatbots.

  • Alpha2 integration allows you to quickly generate AI translation drafts for the chatbot’s text responses in 1400+ languages!

  • M2 also gives seamless analytics across all languages you are reaching.

  • Once you’ve built a single primary language chatbot, you can easily replicate it into as many languages as you want.

  • And when you make changes to the primary language's chatflow, those changes are replicated in all languages. You won't have to make the same change to every single language.

  • Excited to be exploring adaption of M2 chatbot to Oral (WhatsApp) and Sign Language audiences!  Provide interest queries to Jeremy Hodes.

You can try out M2 here: https://chatui.multilingualai.com/

LAVA: Language Agnostic Video Anonymization

Developed to protect the identity of Deaf teammates translating the Bible in sensitive areas, this video anonymization could also protect the identities of teammates providing testimonies of persecution.  Still under a research-only license for current trial users, but we have promising developments toward a non-commercial license and rapid development of improvements based on our first round of feedback.  For a trial login, email Jonathan Hudlow

FaithBridge: Here is a beta release where you can sign up and chat back and forth with Bible translation resources, allowing Bible translators to chat with resources in 80 languages, audio and text.  It currently uses the resources in BiblioNexus’ Aquifer, available at https://well.bible.  We’d love your feedback (stars and comments in the application or by emails to Mark Woodward) on how well it works for Bible translators in your region or feedback on additional resources to include.  Current modes include:

  • Chat - Just engage and ask questions

  • Video and image search - There is a limited collection of pictures and video available in the Aquifer, curated here with AI search.  Examples:I’ve never seen a sheep before.  What is it?
I’ve never seen an ocean before.  What does the Sea of Galilee look like?
I’ve never seen snow before.  What is it?

  • Dynamic version - Produce simplified, dynamic retelling of Bible pericopes (shorter sections) to help think about the Bible passages in different ways, as a stepping stone toward mother tongue dynamic translations.

We are working with software like well.bible, SIL’s Audio Project Manager, and Scripture Forge to possibly implement FaithBridge in their software.  Sign-up here: https://faithbridge.multilingualai.com/

AERO: Three features are working in this trial web-application version: noise removal, voice change, and transcription.  These three features were incorporated into SIL’s Audio Project Manager version 4.1, and are under development for offline utility for 2025.  https://software.sil.org/audioprojectmanager/download/

  • We are in pursuit of tier 2 funding for AI model building for custom LRL ASR/TTS and quality assurance features.
